Penrith Chamber of Trade & Commerce - April Update
5th April, 2022
Dear Friend,
This is a news update following our AGM which was held on 24th February 2022.
AGM 2022
At the AGM, it was great to see some familiar faces in attendance after a long break from face to face meetings.
The meeting was seen very much as an opportunity to restart after the pandemic and to welcome people back.
Stephen Macaulay has agreed to continue in his role as President for another year but there are vacancies for Vice President and Treasurer. Glenn Clifford Perkins of Armstrong Watson has kindly (and very generously) agreed to continue as ‘acting Treasurer’ until a replacememt is found.
Although the Chamber is currently operating without an administrator, we will be looking to recruit someone to this position in the coming weeks as things start to get active again.
We are also looking for members who would like to join the Executive Committtee, we anticipate that with the Local Government Reorganisation taking place over the next period, the Chamber will be an important voice for the business and wider community and we need a strong team to work with us on these and other changes. If this is of interest, please do get in touch.
The minutes of the meeting and a transcript of the President’s Address are attached to this page.
Other News:
Penrith & Eden Business Forum:
Perhaps the biggest news is the launch of the Penrith & Eden Business Forum. This will be an online forum for local businesses (including Penrith and Eden Valley).
We have received funding from Eden District Council’s Welcome Back to Eden Fund to support the first 12 months and we will run this on a ‘free trial’ basis during that period.
The Forum is a little bit like a directory of members that allows all members to interact and have conversations about different matters. It is different from facebook groups as you are able to ‘track’ conversations so that you can use the app when it suits you.
We will be publishing more on this in the coming weeks but if this is of interest, please email us and let us know and we can add you into the forum.
Events:
We held our first social gathering on 24th March 2022 at The Printworks (the well-appointed courtyard dining area to the rear of The Lounge Hotel and Bar) where we were served prosecco and a variety of street food taster platters.
It was a lovely sunny evening and the first night the courtyard had been open this year and we enjoyed a couple of hours catching up and enjoying the food.
We plan to have more of these social events in the months to come so watch this space.
Subscriptions:
Please be aware that as we are restarting, subscriptions will be issued in the next week or two. We would be grateful if you could let us know if your contact details have changed or any other circumstances.
